Saints Sessions Announces its Featured Artists for January 2019

OKC’s Best Live Jazz Show is stepping things up in 2019. Between a new partnership with The Skirvin Hotel, a potential collaboration with The Blue Door, and a growing relationship with the Tulsa Jazz Scene, it’s possible that we will more than doubling the number of live jazz shows we’re organizing on a weekly basis by mid-2019. We encourage y’all to join our email list to get the most current updates. With that said, let’s meet our Featured Artists for January 2019.

Alyssa Kozlowski – January 3rd

Alyssa is our First Thursday Featured Artist for January. She’s performed with other headliners at Saints, but 1/3/19 will be her headlining debut at Saints. I first heard Alyssa play at a house jam in Edmond in 2014, and I was really impressed with her lines and voicings. Alyssa is hosting an open jam after her show, so bring your horn if you’re looking to sit-in!

Bishop Marsh – January 10th

We’re determined to connect Oklahoma City’s Jazz Scene with Tulsa’s, and Bishop Marsh is our first Tulsa-based headliner. Bishop is an insanely talented young Trumpet player who has frequently attended Saints Sessions, sat in at our jams, and performed with other headliners. He has headlined Duet, an awesome new Jazz Club in Tulsa, and we’re ready for him to bring his music to OKC.

Local Man Ruins Everything – January 17th

Local Man Ruins Everything is bringing their engaging fusion back to Saints. They are one of the most creative bands in OKC and their sound transcends most genres we’d use to describe them. We’re really excited about this appearance because of the way LMRE has been developing their sound lately. Their last performance at Saints featured Adam Ledbetter on keyboards, which added a 4th dimension to their sound. Since then, we’ve seen Instagram stories of LMRE rehearsing with horns! We don’t know what they will bring to this show, but we’re excited to see. Even if they go with the power trio, 1/17 will be a musical journey at Saints.

Garrison Brown – January 24th

Garrison Brown is bringing the band January 24th. It’s been months since Garrison’s last feature at Saints, but it was a really memorable set. Garrison is a killin’ jazz trumpet player, multi-insturmentalist, and music producer. He’s great at curating and organizing top-notch jazz shows. At this one, we’re expecting standards and some original tunes from members of the band.

Zac Lee QUANtet – January 31st

Zac Lee is one of the top cats in OKC. His QUANtet has a deep repertoire of Zac’s originals, and we love digging into his artistry. The QUANtet has made a multiple appearances at Saints, the UCO Jazz Lab, and Deep Deuce Sessions, but it’s been way too long since he’s been in the house. We can’t wait for this one. Also, dig his new Soundcloud.

January is looking really dope, and we have major plans for 2019, so invite your friends in to the scene. When you come to our shows, be sure to clap after solos, holler at the band if it’s really swingin, and generally make the vibe good. If you see someone who’s new to the scene, make them feel welcome.

You can get your tickets below and see the next few months’ headliners at OkSessions.com/SaintsSessions. Be sure to hop on the email list if you haven’t already.
