Artist Profile: Original Flow, OKC's dynamic hip-hop frontman

Original Flow is an emcee, poet, rapper, and frontman in the Oklahoma City hip-hop and rap scene. We’ve had the opportunity to rock with Flow at Hubbly Bubbly, Lyricist Lounge, and Deep Deuce Sessions. Flow is a dynamic performer and lyricist with deep roots. He kills it on the mic and adds mad value to hip-hop in OKC and every stage he takes in the US and beyond.

Original Flow is… original.

First, Flow consistently puts out good original music. His band the Fervent Route is a hip-hop staple and deserves their own Artist Profile. From his artwork to his beats to his verses and hooks, Flow’s creativity can’t go unnoticed. In everything he does, he creates community, and the official video for ‘Feeling Good’ embodies Flow’s collaborative artistic spirit perfectly. Check it.

Not only does Flow prominently feature The Fervent Route in his solo project, he features their whole collective. “Feeling Good” is a who’s who of the local hip-hop scene. You can’t miss features from Fresh and Jim Conway, but those who know OKC hip-hop are familiar with DJ Triple 8, Deezy, Druce Wayne, and dozens of cameos from other local rappers, clothing lines, and visual artists.

Flow has a knack for showing off OKC’s local artists and businesses. In fact, he’s known for it.

Original Flow is the Founder and Host of Lyricist Lounge

Flow started Lyricist Lounge in 2017. On a monthly basis, he curates a themed lineup of hip-hop artists. He emcees the sessions, DJ Dee Rock hits the 1’s and 2’s, and Flow invites local business owners to promote their businesses between sets. You can often find other creators in the house, from photographers, to painters, to indie clothing labels setting up racks in the room.

Lyricist Lounge is consistenly dope, but it’s only the beginning of Flow’s collaborations with other emcees.

Flow is on the Hubbly-Bubbly Supreme Council

Maybe that’s not the official term (it definitely isn’t), but Hubbly Bubbly on Classen is def a stronghold for hip-hop culture in OKC, and Flow is part of the core collective that makes decisions about how to propel their scene forward. He’s frequently a judge/performer for Art of Rap/Heart of Hip-hop, and has helped build a pathway for new rappers, producers, DJs, and poets to cut their teeth and develop in the scene.

Live Performance

Of course the biggest way Original Flow sets the bar high in OKC is with his live performance. His bars are deep and rhythmic, and his stage presence is solid. He’s funny too. Flow has described himself as the class clown, and his charisma comes from confidently switching between poetic messages and light-hearted banter. He makes his crowd feel like rock stars and he’s adaptable to a lot of different environments.
