Summer 2019: These Rooftop Bars in OKC are hopping with drinks, food, and music

Our first ever Rooftop Hop was last week, and it was amazing! If you were there, you know what all of the hype is about. If you missed out, you have a few more opportunities to be a part of the Rooftop Hop experience – and it’s only going to get better!

Each Rooftop Hop will be bigger than the last, so make sure you’re at the next one. Here are 5 highlights from the inaugural Rooftop Hop.

1. Chalk’s Rooftop Patio became an Outdoor Jazz Club

Chalk was transformed into a jazz club, and packed to the gills with rooftop patio fans. When the band kicked off, the vibe went to another level. Jazz pianist Kendrik McKinney brought a great rhythm section, and invited some horn players to sit-in. This rooftop bar was packed with patrons all night, and was damn near magical when the sun was setting.

2. Birra Birra Paired Craft Pizza with Wine, Cocktails, and Indie Rock

Between Empire, Gusto, and Hall’s, OKC has a fierce pizza scene. Birra Birra Craft Pizzeria is the newest contender, and they bring something fresh to the table.

Birra Birra’s atmosphere finds a nice balance between being casual and sophisticated. They have two stories of patio facing a small greenspace and a beautiful water feature. We put bands on a stage where both levels of patio could enjoy dinner and a show. When all the seating was full, Rooftop Hoppers were able to sit along the stairs with a glass or some ice cream from Bibi’s.

The bands crushed it, and we have an exciting array of bands scheduled here for the rest of the series. We’ll be featuring artists who play everything from blues to neo-soul to singer-songwriter.

3. We experienced Topgolf’s Rooftop Lounge for the first time

Topgolf’s rooftop lounge has to be one of the most underrated spaces for live music in Oklahoma City. The patio is spacious and right next to their full service bar. The first Rooftop Hop featured Rnb and Hip-hop. Later in the series, you’ll hear full bands playing soul, rock, and more.

4. Sidecar’s Rooftop is a Party

Sidecar has live music on their rooftop every Wednesday and Thursday, weather permitting. Their crowd knew just what to do at the first Rooftop Hop party.

We invited Ketel One Botanicals and Stonecloud Brewing Co. to come out and share some sample cocktails and beers with us. The weather was perfect, the drinks were flowing, and the band was helping everyone lay back on a Tuesday.

5. The best part is getting to explore a new local district, new local food, and new local artists

The best part about Rooftop Hop is getting to explore. Each stage is a different setting with a different menu and different talent.

If you stay in one place, you’ll have a good night. If you discover new musical acts, try new food, and have new conversations on your Tuesday night adventure, you’ll remember Rooftop Hop as one of OKC’s coolest experiences.

Tune into the Official Rooftop Hop website for more information, and make a point to be at every Rooftop Hop this year.
