Sanctuary Barsilica hosts Karaoke Contest in Film Row, OKC. Winner to perform live with the “Church” Band

Film Row’s Sanctuary Barsilica is Oklahoma City’s newest bar, live music spot, and karaoke spot. In addition to hosting great local musicians, the religious-themed bar has karaoke “services” every Wednesday and Thursday. Beginning in March, Film Row’s “Sanctuary” will run a month-long karaoke contest (called Karaoke Idol), and the winner will get to perform with the “Church” Band.

How to Audition (and win) at Karaoke Idol

Karaoke “services” go down every Wednesday and Thursday night at Sanctuary, beginning at 9pm. Not only are Wednesdays and Thursdays a great time they are also an audition. Amateur singers who make the cut will be given a Golden Ticket.

Everyone who receives a ‘Golden Ticket’ throughout the month will be invited to perform at Karaoke Idol in front of a live panel of Judges. The winner of Karaoke Idol wins prizes including a bar tab and an invitation to perform live with the “Church” Band the following Saturday night.

The “Church” Band: It’s not really a church and we’re not really a band

The church isn’t really a church, and the band isn’t really a band. Rather, the “Church” Band is a collective of top local musicians that back up special guest vocalists. Once per month, the “Church” Band brings a party to Film Row in the form of pop, soul, RnB, Hip-hop, and jazz performed by local vocalists, rappers, and instrumentalists. Beginning with the April show, they will also feature the Karaoke Idol Winner in the lineup of local artists.

To win Karaoke Idol, earn a Golden Ticket at a Wednesday or Thursday night Karaoke Service, then return the Thursday before the “Church Band” and perform for the judges at Karaoke Idol. The winner will be announced at the end of Karaoke Idol and invited to perform the following Saturday night.
