Othello’s Emerges as Live Music Venue

Othello’s of Norman has long been a Norman landmark, primarily known for their excellent Italian food, recently they have emerged as the premier venue for live jazz and blues in Norman. Featuring some of the most talented artists in the metro area, this campus corner favorite is rapidly transforming into a hot spot to catch some live music. 

Monday Night Blues Jam

On Monday nights, Othello’s hosts a blues jam, with Wess McMichael and The Ravens as the house band. The jam opens and closes with a set by The Ravens, featuring both blues standards and original music. The jam has had songs called by artists, ranging from B.B. King to The Beatles, and the variety doesn’t stop at the songs being called, if you attend the blues jam chances are you’ll hear solos from a range of instruments including the harmonica, a cello / bass hybrid, and more! Jazz

Othello’s is also home to weekly jazz performances on Sunday nights, featuring local cats like Justin Dupuis, Brian Daley, and The D.A.V.E. Combo. Sunday nights are always a riot, you’ll hear a range of jazz from the classics like Miles and Bird to modern standards like Strasbourg-St. Denis by Roy Hargrove. No matter who you’re catching, Sunday night at Othello’s is always a blast.

In addition to Sunday night jazz, Othello’s will also have the all new Othello’s Sessions, starting November 15th!

There’s no shortage of great players in Norman, yet sometimes it feels like there is a shortage of places to see them. Othello’s provides a place to see excellent musicians in a family friendly, all age environment!
