OkSessions exists to build live music culture in OKC. We want to connect the local community to its local artists. One way we’ve done this is by organizing live events, and we use our blog and social media to invite people!
We know there are other passionate event organizers in the city, and we know the people who follow our blog and social media are engaged locals looking for live music, so it seems like a win-win to invite organizers to use our site as a platform for their live music events. We’re excited to introduce the first 3 event organizers collaborating with us to make more music happen in OKC.
1. Grand Gentlemen – The Art of Romance – February 15th at Cellar Cafe in the Asian District
The Grand Gents put the highest priority on culture, whether it’s fashion, music, or lifestyle. The group is headed by Korey Eakers, and The Art of Romance is their first live event. The day after Valentine’s Day, the Grand Gentlemen will host RnB artists, Hip-hop emcees, and visual artists at Cellar Cafe in the Asian District.
The Grand Gentlemen know there’s more to life than just being really, really, ridiculously good-looking. They’re also avid volunteers with the OKC Public Schools, and run a scholarship called the “Man of the Year” award, which is given to outstanding high school seniors. Proceeds from The Art of Romance go to the 2019 Scholarship fund, which you learn more about here.
2. Marcellus “Mars” Coleman – We Tell Stories – The Basement at Crestwood Vineyard.
Marcellus Coleman is a bright light of passion and compassion. ‘We Tell Stories’ is a community and family-friendly live music and poetry event. This event is a Reboot of the series ‘We Tell Stories’ and features special guest artists from previous WTS. Mars is enthusiastic about building up other artists, and his interest in other artists’ creativity is contagious.
Stay tuned for the full lineup, and check out the music video for ‘Rightly,’ one of Mars’ original songs, which he created with J. Lee the Producer.
3. Cavern Company – ‘Indie Sessions ft. McAllister and Mad Honey‘ at Trolley Stop Record Shop
Cavern Company is Indie band with a tight live show, and they’re hosting the first ever Indie Sessions featuring Ft. Worth-based band McAllister and local favorite Mad Honey. Cavern Company is passionate about connecting OKC’s Indie Rock Scene to the national circuit, which is why ting together this show at Trolley Stop Record Shop March 1st.
If you haven’t heard Cavern Company before, check out this teaser and don’t miss their live show March 1st.
