Husbands released a brand new track, “Mexico,” Aug. 27 on all streaming platforms! This is their first single of their upcoming second EP! They also have a few shows coming up soon like Sept. 14 at The Jones Assembly and Sept. 26 at the Illinois River Jam in Tahlequah. They filled us in on a little bit of the background of the track!
The new single is upbeat and poppy but also has elements of dream pop like Walk the Moon and The Beach Boys combined.
Last summer, Danny moved to Costa Rica on this ridiculous housesitting job where he ended up working a little bit but mostly spent his days surfing and playing poker with locals. “It was the best time of our lives,” Danny said, “but it wrecked us.” Because when Danny moved back to OKC and settled back into his cubicle, all he could think about was capitalism, pretty much, and felt disillusioned “about days spent in cubes working 9-5s with no end in sight.” So Danny sat down and wrote “Mexico,” which is an escapist fantasy track dedicated to the dream of moving to a coastal town: “to be poor and happy together,” Danny said, “let’s move to Mexico, baby.”
This new single is perfect for fans of local bands like Mad Honey, Cavern Company, and Spinster!
