Meet the Musicians Pioneering the Blue Door’s Tuesday Night Jazz Series – February 2019

Saints Sessions’ new collaboration with the Blue Door is finally here! In February we will feature 3 excellent jazz artists at the Blue Door. Let’s learn a little about the artists who are pioneering this partnership.

Note: For February, there will be jazz on 3 of the 4 Tuesdays; beginning March 2019, the Blue Door will host jazz every Tuesday.

Jazz Pianist Kendrik McKinney takes the stage February 5th

McKinney is a young jazz musician, but he’s earned his stripes in OKC’s over the past years. He swings, he’s a tasteful accompanist to other musicians on the bandstand, and he keeps the bandstand stacked with great players. His last few shows at Saints have shown that he’s building a following for his art locally, and we’re excited to see what he brings to the Blue Door.

Jazz Vocalist Sarah Maud is Headlining the Blue Door February 19th

The first time I heard Sarah Maud sing was at the Monday night jam at Ice Event Center. She’s an exceptional vocalist who truly uses her voice as an instrument. Her vocal improvisation is harmonically excellent and rich with great jazz vocabulary. There are not many vocalists in the region that can do what Sarah does, which is why she is performing at the Blue Door in February and why she is being featured at February Skirvin Jazz Club.

Pianist and Composer Adam Ledbetter is gonna the swang February 26th

Adam Ledbetter is approaching local legend status in OKC. He is our quintessential jazz pianist. If you’ve heard Adam play, he needs no introduction; if you haven’t heard him perform… you need to be at this show!

Performances begin at 7pm, and tickets can be purchased on The Blue Door’s website: BlueDoorOKC.com
