January was a big month for Jazz in Oklahoma City, but February will be even bigger. In addition to our new partnership to bring live jazz to the Blue Door, there are some special Valentine’s Day shows to be hip to and a swingin’ show at Skirvin Jazz Club. Here are our headliners for Saints Sessions in February 2019:
February 7th – Dr. Michael Geib (Our First Thursday Feature)
Dr. Geib is a killin bass player and faculty member at UCO. He’s made multiple appearances at Saints, and we are excited to see what he brings for his first-Thursday Feature.
February 14th – Chanda Graham (Special Valentine’s Day Performance)
Chanda Graham is becoming a local legend, and this Valentine’s Day experience will be one for the books. We’re bringing tablecloths and candles, and Chanda is bringing jazz standard and a top-notch band. You will need a ticket to be guaranteed a seat, so act fast if you want this to be part of your Valentine’s Day experience.
February 21st – Mike Cameron (Our Monthly Tulsa Feature)
As we mentioned in our last Saints Sessions post, we want to connect OKC and Tulsa this year. You can’t have a conversation about Tulsa’s jazz scene without Mike Cameron’s name coming up. He’s a killin’ sax player and organizes tons of jazz gigs on the other end of the Turnpike. Come get hip to one of the top players in the state.
February 28th – Next Step Jazz Sextet
The Next Step Jazz Sextet is making their OKC debut at Saints Sessions! This combo is of young cats from the University of Oklahoma. They’ve been consistently showing up at jams in OKC, and bringing good stuff to the bandstand. Come show some love to these up-and-comers from Norman. This may be the first time you hear about them, but it won’t be the last.
Thanks for spreading the word and helping us grow great live music culture in OKC.
